Position Description – Craft Resource

Objective or Purpose:

To develop campers' self-esteem and confidence by planning age appropriate activities and crafts that are both within the campers' abilities and allow for creativity, individuality and challenge.   And to ensure the campers have fun!

Qualifications:

• Some craft experience
• Sufficient leadership experience to give instruction and maintain control of a group

Duties:

• plans craft program to be utilized at both Kalalla sessions if required
• plans craft program in advance to enable purchase of supplies - taking into account:
  • age and ability range of campers (allowing for creativity, individuality and challenge)
  • special considerations such as theme days, Discovery Time, and special requests from counsellors
• coordinates purchasing of supplies with committee member with consideration to budget requirements
• the Business Manager or an alternate will do any additional purchasing for supplies for the second camp session
• supervises the camp craft program including
  • set up and organization of the craft lodge at start of camp
  • ensuring adequate supplies are available for each part of the planned program before camp begins
  • daily maintenance of cleanliness
• creates daily examples of what the units will be doing in the environment program
• acts as a resource for campers/staff to help implement their ideas
• coordinates day to day crafts with the Discovery Time program and general program
• utilizes resources found in the environment
• cleans up Craft Lodge after first camp and does an inventory for supplies needed for second camp; relays this information to committee member
• leaves clear outline/notes for Craft program in the Craft Binder to be used in the future
• packs up craft material and does inventory for winter storage at the end of second camp
  • store non-freezable items at camp and pack up freezable items to be stored in the city
  • notify business manager of city-bound items
